“Taylor is such a wonderful community; a quality place to live, work, raise a family, and retire. All of it is because of the people of this town. Growth and change and development should serve the people and families of Taylor – not the other way around. That’s why we need leaders on the council who listen to the people. I am humbled to ask for your vote.”

–Shelli Cobb

The Head of a Teacher, the Heart of a Champion

Hard work, dedication, intensity, and a huge heart: these are the qualities that make a great coach. These are the qualities that have defined Shelli Cobb’s life. Shelli spent almost 25 years guiding Taylor’s children through those difficult teenage years with a level head and open heart as their trusted teacher and coach. She taught them as students, trained them as athletes, and challenged them as people. Now she’s running for city council to cut through petty politics and restore trust and confidence in city government by listening to and serving the people of our town.

A Classic Texas Story...

Shelli is a lifelong Texan with a classic Texas story. Her earliest inspiration was her mother – a single mom with two girls who worked tremendously hard to put food on the table and make sure Shelli and her sister had everything they needed. Shelli learned early in life the transformative power of education and hard work. That combination led her to become a state champion runner in high school and the first member of her family to go to college. She set her sights on a goal, worked hard, and settled for nothing less than achieving it. For three decades, she transferred that grit to her students, helping them achieve their goals whether winning a game, getting into the college of their dreams, or building a life and career they could be proud of. She rose to head coach, award winning Rotary Educator of the Year, and assistant athletic director for Taylor ISD. Retiring from teaching last year, she now serves as a marketing and public relations specialist for a local business.

A wife and devoted mother of three boys, Shelli has instilled in her sons that same spirit of hard work and service. An active member of her church, she and her husband, Brian, model the way by giving their time and talents to Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry, hosting midnight basketball, and participating in the annual School Supply Drive. She also serves on the board of the TEE Foundation, which supports our Taylor schools. And any time there’s a community cleanup, Shelli is there with her gloves (or, in the case of cleaning up after an ice storm, her own chainsaw). When people need someone they can trust, they count on Shelli Cobb. And the people of Taylor showed their love when tragedy struck Shelli’s family. Four years ago, her and Brian’s beloved 15-year-old son Tyler died in an accident, and the people of Taylor lifted them up in prayer and surrounded them with care and support. Giving back to the town that has done so much for them, to the people that she feels God drew her to be with when He knew she would need them, is what inspires Shelli to enter public service. She has a deep and indelible love for the people of Taylor.

Shelli's Vision

Shelli’s vision for Taylor is simple: a government that listens to its people and regains their confidence by following through on the basics: streets we can drive on, infrastructure that works, development that preserves the soul of our town, and tax rates that won’t force us from our homes.
